The State Fair of Texas

The wind was a little brisk, but we decided to take advantage of our "free" tickets and journey to sunny South Dallas for the day. It was Ashton's first trip to the state fair, and Ash joined us this time.

We managed to tackle a corny dog, two chicken finger baskets, and a funnel cake. Next time, I'll remember to hunt down my catfish basket; it was truly missed.

All in all, it was a fun day, but Addi wasn't as adventurous as I expected . . .

Random School Days: Before and After...

Well, the first two weeks were filled with a few tears and a little uncertainty. Bug quickly determined that Chief was the "villain" (he chauffeured Ashton to school) and Mimi was the "hero"(she picked him up) in his Monday - Thursday pre-school routine. Nevertheless, they both managed to capture some of Ashton's first two months of school, and soon he decided that this school gig was a pretty okay deal...

Junebug Goes to School Too!

Well in summary, it was a successful day on most accounts. Ashton's first day of day care in the Mother's Day Out program - the same one Addi attended just a few short years ago.

Mimi had the pleasure of dropping him off today because Chief had another long night tending to Gran. They arrived about 10 minutes after 9:00, and several other kiddos were just settling in as well. Ashton was eager to be at "school" like his big sister, so Mimi left him in VERY good spirits - ready to make new friends and learn. She hung around for a few minutes watching via the "looking glass" just to be sure . . .

So after running a few errands, she checked back on him again. This time the crew had just come inside from the playground, and it was a different scene. Per Mimi - the entire class of two-year-olds was in tears. LOL. Nevertheless, she didn't rescue him. He eventually settled down like most of the others and took a long nap - even without his "ya-ya" (paci). Mimi actually waited 30 minutes in the hallway because he was still sleeping at pick-up time. When they finally made it back to her house, Mimi sent this pic with the caption:

First Day of Kindergarten

Where has the time gone? Seriously.

So today I started my 21st year in education, and Addisyn began her first year in a long and exciting journey on the highway of education. Wow. She's growing up so fast. I pray that she makes lots of new friends at her new school, Ann Daulton Elementary School, soaks up as much as her little brain can handle, and that Ms. Raggs is poised and ready for an exciting year of teaching and learning. This timeline will be marked with lots of checkpoints and details. Let's get the learning started!

Happy 5th Birthday, Addisyn!

Today IS the day. The birthday girl spent most of the day at "camp" sporting her birthday shirt that I purchased on sale at Gymboree. Ash posted this pic on Facebook with a birthday message:

Here's a recap of the fabulous party she had a few days ago at Pump It Up! Oh yes, and the birthday girl came with her hair flowing - her first blow dry/flat iron. I personally prefer her curls . . .
